Minor or Child? A Necessary Legal Distinction

Examining this issue, the present paper aims to provide several conceptual clarifications regarding the notion of child, as regulated in national and international legislation, without, however, attempting to exhaust the subject. In this study, we propose the use of the term child to encompass all stages of age of the human individual in relation to his or her parents. Regardless of age, each of us remains the “child” of our parents. Evidence of this idea is also reflected in a traditional saying: you remain a child until your parents pass away.
