United Before The Union
Keywords:
Romanian Countries; Romanians; DaciansAbstract
When we talk about the Union of the Romanian Countries, the thought of any Romanian accelerates the perception of the concept somewhat more hastily flees to the idea of the Union of the Romanian Principalities from 1859, when, in fact, the Romanians achieved their Union several times. Unlike other European States, such as Italy, Germany, Spain, which had a single and definitive event, the Romanian Countries had several such historical upsurges, after which they experienced as many relapses due to the greedy policy of the neighboring Great Powers. But the struggle for the Unification of the Romanian Nation became perpetual, a historical, natural feature, because too often foreigners coveted the territory of the Romanians and just as often Romanians got up to fight to defend their homeland. Thus, our people inherited from their ancestors the trait of the struggle to defend the homeland. For Romanians, this geographical hearth was dear, because they were born with the mountains, with the waters and the flowers on their slopes that adorn this "foot of the plains". We grew up in this landscape and worked, as always, as brothers since those millennial times. We have always lived here, since we called ourselves Pelasgians, and later Thracians, Getae, Dacians.
